My yellow-brick road ends in New York City. I walk for the life, not the lights. While pig-tailed girls played Prince Charming and Princess Dresses, I escaped to a small studio on the Upper East Side. I stand on passions like ruby red slippers. They send me home to the high-rises just the same.
I strive to button a sharply-bordered, black blazer, while my heels clamor cement to catch fashion shows across-town. I bind curiosity in moleskin book; it’s poured by a pen tangled in my top-knot. The ink imagines fashion’s plot. I’m a narrator, never a story–access for all without a VIP badge.
I see fashion as our zeitgeist’s first manifestation. It mirrors what we are and makes what we will be. Culture influences our dress desires; but when we appropriate apparel, we then change culture. A style’s story has societal responsibility.
Multiple motivations will drive one design. The mediums exposing and expressing them also add unique messages. I learned each cog’s contribution so my machine can make a more-beneficial product. My education encompasses Fashion Retail and Design Studies, Journalism, Marketing Communications, and Business. I set each gear a-turn, get them work and interact with each other, for all content I create. I’m interested in each voice so I can make a more consumer-compatible chorus. I’m an author; my protagonist is an apparel brand.
I’m always searching for opportunities to dabble in my craft’s different functions. To date I’ve worked in styling, copywriting, brand journalism, new business development, SEO, digital marketing analytics, editorial and PR. My resumé spans from start-ups to the well-established: Nordstrom, Club Monaco, Fashionbi, Pursebox, and WNDRLUST are a few brands I’ve had the pleasure of growing with.
Employers often question the “one passion” of my diverse past. Risking labels like unfocused or over-ambitious, I answer “everything.” To make mutually-beneficial strategies for the company and customer, each job required a curiosity-in and understanding-of industry, business, and consumer trends. My Individualized B.S. can take me from designing the products on store shelves to dreaming-up the content on social sites. Though I whittle the work I love do into one sentence:
